Paradox

“Although they result from chaos, paradoxical situations generate optimism and the will to live. They testify to the ‘victory’ over the difficulties of transformation. We again face practical problems. People attempt to solve them by improvising. I showed this also in another series of mine, ‘Roadside Objects.’

In this case however my paintings are unmoving. They describe a new reality and as such must capture paradoxes to fully reveal the sensitivity and energy characterizing life in times of transformation. I also painted these works with the hope that they would demonstrate that it was still possible to live in this way for some time.” (Edi Hila)
