Transitional Landscapes

“Building is a way of displaying power. The structures presented in these paintings were often built without the involvement of an architect, but are an invention of the owners, who frequently altered their original concept during construction. The owners exercised their agency in a field where they remained amateurs, and the result could be surprising and strange. In this manner the Albanian landscape was enriched by grotesque architectural forms, offering a dream theme for my own painting.” (Edi Hila)
